About notations
The main theme of the notation cycle is the preservation of knowledge about the Animated Film Studio in Krakow and the artistic milieu that has been associated with it ever since. The studio was established in Krakow in 1966 as a branch of the Warsaw-based Studio Miniatur Filmowych. Its initiator and founder was Kazimierz Urbański - a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, who led the Film Drawing Workshop there. In 1974, the studio acquired its legal status as well as a new name - Animated Film Studio, under which it became famous all over the world. The main focus of the studio was the production of animated, original short films, addressed to adult viewers. However, animations for children and other short films were also produced there. The leading authors of the SFA include: Jerzy Kucia, Julian Antonisz, Ryszard Antoniszczak, Ryszard Czekała, Krzysztof Kiwerski, Krzysztof Raynoch, Aleksander Sroczyński, Andrzej Warchał, Zbigniew Szymański and Longin Szmyd. The 1990s marked the beginning of a critical period for the SFA which eventually resulted in its closure in 2003. The notations will serve cognitive and documentary functions, and they will also help to disseminate cultural assets in the Lesser Poland region.
