The Third Day of the International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima 2023

The third day of our festival, we are starting with the panel discussion „From film school to Berinale”. The panel will take place at Potocki Palace at Rynek Główny 20 street. The admission for this event is free, that is why we particularly encourage you to come and listen to Marta Chwałek and Konrad Głabka, who along with their guests will take the trip down the memory lane because of 30th anniversary of the festival. They will talk to the winners of the Golden Dinosaur trophy – Elmar Imanov (won in 2013) and Aga Woszczyńska (won in 2014). Elmar, Aga, and the other guests will talk about their career paths after film schools, about difficulties they encountered during realizations of their projects, and about the successes they have.

In MOS’s Small Hall, at 1:30 p.m. we invite you to „Autoportrets of animation creators”. During this event, we will focus on the work of Estonian creator Priit Tender, and we will show you five of his films, including Orpheus from 2019, Bird Flu from 2016, and The Maggot Feeder from 2012.

At 3 p.m., after the previous event is finished, in the exact same place, the third projection of the Étude competition is going to take place. Another five productions will be played, for instance Mexican 3 Days, 3 Years, directed by Florencia Gómez Sántiz, and Spanish The Things to Come, directed by Santiago Ráfales.

At the same time, which is 3 p.m., in MOS’s Big Hall, the second part of the event, which focuses on playing chosen films, both études and animations, that had been awarded throughout the years of the festival. You will get the chance to watch polish étude Killing Auntie, which was rewarded in 2014 with the Silver Dinosaur trophy, and Croatian animation A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts, which received the Golden Jabberwocky award in 2018.

The WymiAR exhibition is still opened for you from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. We invite you to an incredible journey through mysteries of extensive outer space and virtual space. During this exhibition, the guests can admire brilliant works of authors, such as Samuel Kawczak, Anna Riabchenko and Anastazja Tsybulska. Also, come and have fun a tour VR Corner, where the admission is completely free! You can find it in MOS’s Main Hall, and it is open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

At 4 p.m. we have another panel discussion Are the Muses silent in wartime? – the war in Ukraine in the eyes of documentary filmmakers, which will take place at Potocki Palace at Rynek Główny 20 street. This panel will show war in Ukraine from the perspective of a documentarian. The guests are Tadeusz Chudy, Alina Shapran and Maciej Zygmunt, who will talk during the panel about their film and photo projects about war in Ukraine, people suffering from war trauma and refugee crisis, and will share their personal experiences from working in the war conditions. The admission for this event is free.

At 5 p.m., in MOS’s Big Hall, there will be the second projection of Anima competition. Among the projected animations, there will be titles such as World to Roam from Stephen Irwin and Pressure from Che Marcheti.

The last event for the day we prepared for you is screening of the film End of Season, directed by Elmar Imanov (awarded with the Golden Dinosaur in 2013). It tells the story of a small Azeri family, who suffer from a shock after some accident. Come and see the film for yourself at 8:30 p.m. in MOS’s Big Hall.
