The display, showing six political cabinets where the most important talks regarding the political crisis took place, is the work of Robert Sowa, who’s responsible for the animations, and Sylwia Nowak, who created dolls of the politicians.

Only half an hour later, at 5.00 pm, the first screening of the Anima competition will begin, featuring as many as nine short animations. Til We Meet Again (dir. Ülov Pikkov) is a story of the inhabitants of a small island of Runhu, from which they escape wanting to hide from the war of 1944; many years later, they have an opportunity to come back home, but as it turns out someone else has already been living there for a while. Bear Hug (dir. Mergrethe Danielsen) is a film about a birthday party of the eponymous animal, for which nobody shows up; in Regular (dir. Nata Metlukh) we will find out how the world would look like if its main characters were fonts; meanwhile in The Debutante (dir. Elizabeth Hobbs) we will be able to get to know the story of a young woman who manages to convince a hyena from the London Zoo to go instead of her to the ball she is afraid of. We're not there tomorrow (dir. Olga Kłyszewicz), Passenger (dir. Juan Pablo Zaramella), A forest fire (dir. Izumi Ogawa), Steakhouse (dir. Špela Čadež) and Niemandsland (dir. The largest retrospective of works made at the National Film Board of Canada is a treat not only for lovers of the animation from the Land of the Maple Leaf. In the program of the section "National Film Board of Canada - An Incubator for World Animation Talent" there will be 5 thematically divided sets of animations from the world's most famous production company which creates artistic short films, including animated ones. The screening of the first section of films presented as part of the retrospective will start at 6:30 pm. The first part entitled "Pinscreen" will show animations created by Jacques Drouin, which were made using the pinscreen method. This section will be complemented by two documentaries: one about the life and work of Drouin and other one about the specifics of filmmaking using the aforementioned pinscreen technique.

Still from animation „Mój romans z małżeństwem” dir. Signe Baumane

The first day of the festival will be concluded with the official Opening Gala (at 8 pm) in Małopolska Garden of Arts. The 29th edition of Etiuda&Anima will be inaugurated by the screening of the latest, full-length animated film by Signe Baumane entitled My Marriage Affair. The main character of the film, Zelma, was convinced by songs and fairy tales from an early age that love will solve all her problems as long as she respects the social expectations of how a girl should behave. However, the more she grew, the more clashes there were with her idea of love. The more she tried to conform, the more her body resisted. Signe Baumane, who has been a guest of the Etiuda&Anima festival a couple of years ago, talks about accepting the internal feminine rebellion with a (typical for her) bittersweet approach.
