Cinematographer and photographer, living in Switzerland in the years 1982-2019. A graduate of the Cinematography Department of the National Film, Television and Theater School in Łódź (1965-69).
He took part in several dozen documentary and feature productions around the world - his works were awarded at festivals in Cannes, Mannheim, Krakow, Los Angeles and Berlin.Member of the Swiss Association of Cinematographers (SCS) and the Polish one (PSC). In 2009 he was honored with the Lohgn-Ammannsegg award for lifetime achievement and invited to be a part of the Swiss Film Academy. He conducts seminars and workshops at institutions such as FOCAL, ZHdK (Zurich), HEAD (Geneva) and CEPV (Vevey).
At the same time, he works as a freelance photographer, specializing in film photography and publishing photography. He has created many publications in various media all over Europe, the United States, Japan and China. Finishing his photographic collaboration with Krzysztof Kieślowski on the set of the trilogy titled "Three Colors" ("Blue", "White" and "Red"), he prepared the photo exhibition "Remembering Krzysztof", which has been traveling around the world since 1994 (over 25 shows in 15 countries ).
He is also the author of several photo books, for example "L'esprit de Genève" (1988), "Oh! Barcelone "(1992) and" Poschiavo, un mondo di valle "(1998).Since 1995, Piotr Jaxa has been working on a new book and photo exhibition project called "Cinematographers" - a collection of portraits of cinematographers from all around the world. So far, he has managed to photograph 141 artists from 30 countries on 4 continents.The first volume of Cinematographers was released in December 2021. The second and third volumes are under development. Piotr Jaxa is also a permanent collaborator of the Polish Photographers Agency - FORUM.
