He has worked in commercial animation—creating content for television stations, music videos, and animated advertisements—and has run his own animation studio, Lunohod, since 2007.

His short animated films (such as Lost in Snow [2007], Wings and Oars [2009], Rainy Days [2014], and Waiting for the New Year [2016]) have won awards at festivals worldwide—including in France, Poland, Japan, Germany, Canada, Portugal, Argentina, the USA, and Croatia—and are regularly featured in the programs of major animation events.

Over the years, his films have frequently appeared at the Etiuda&Anima festival. They are short, subversive, sometimes absurd, and always exceptionally precise. His animations possess a hypnotic quality: a simple form that opens the door to a world of strange associations, dark humor, and deeply human emotions. They have the power to amuse, surprise, and arrest one's thoughts in mid-flight.

Vladimir Leschiov created the poster for the 33rd edition of the Etiuda&Anima festival.

Jury member of the ANIMA.PL 2026 competition An artist, producer, and director of animated films, he was born in 1970 in Daugavpils, Latvia.
