Internationally acclaimed visual artist and animator Lea Vidakovic has created her work Family Portrait in two ways in terms of presentation. In the first case, it is an animated film intended primarily for viewing in standard movie theatres and projection rooms, and in the second, it is a gallery installation composed of synchronized projections and artefacts (dolls and miniature models) arranged in the space, with which the animated material was realized. Therefore, the gallery presentation of Family Portrait \u2013 which is the subject here confronts visitors with two compatible or complementary realities: a two-dimensional virtual and a three-dimensional physical one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lea Vidakovi\u0107<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

She is a multimedia artist, who works in the field of animated installations, expanded media practices and traditional puppet animation. She holds a BA\/MA as graphic artist and painter (Academy of Arts, Zagreb); BA in animation (HVO, Norway); MA of audio-visual arts (Royal Academy of Art, Belgium) and a PhD in animation studies (NTU\/ADM Singapore).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research interests include fragmented narratives and storytelling approaches for animated installations, expanded cinema and storytelling.\u00a0 She has presented films (\u201eFamily Portret\u201d <\/strong>(2023), \u201eHome\u201d<\/strong> (2020), \u201eCrossed Sild\u201d<\/strong> (2020),\u201eThe Vast Landscape \u2013 Porcelain Stories\u201d<\/strong> (2014), \u201eSisters\u201d <\/strong>(2012), \u201eLiesa Van der Aa \u2013 My love\u201d<\/strong> (2012)) and exhibited internationally on numerous exhibitions, on more than 300 animation festivals, and is a winner of several art and film awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She took part in numerous art residencies, scientific conferences and animation festivals as a selector and jury member. She works as an assistant professor at Lusofona University in Lisbon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
