The live interactive performances, during which the greatest personalities of contemporary artistic animation meet with festival audience to tell about the tricks of their trade, are one of the most eagerly awaited program events of each edition. This year we will host a laureate of the Silver Bear Award of the Berlinale for the best short film <em>Jam Session<\/em> - Izabela Pluci\u0144ska, and the Ukrainian filmmaker and co-founder of the Moscow-based Pilot School of Animation - Igor Kovaljov.<\/p>\n<p>Each year\u2019s Etiuda&amp;Anima festival programme comprises the ceremony of presenting the Special Golden Dinosaur award for the outstanding artist and pedagogue. During the 26th edition of the festival it will be handed over to Hieronim Neumann, a leading representative of the experimental trend in Polish animation film.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Etiuda&amp;Anima\u2019s special guests will also be: Jayne Pilling, an expert who will present a program of the 10 best British animations which she selected herself, and Neil Pymer, a creative director of the British animation film studio Aardman Animations specializing in stop montion \u00a0animation (awarded with Oscar for <em>Wallace and Gromit: the Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Shaun the Sheep).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The festival will also remind us some of the most outstanding film authors like Miros\u0142aw Kijowicz, the already deceased Polish director of animated films, film critic and lecturer, whose film retrospective forms a part of the festival program. We will also reminisce about the filmmakers who passed away last year. The \u201dFarewell\u201d cycle will comprise screenings of the documentaries dedicated to the creative output of Agnes Varda (<em>Varda by Agnes<\/em>), Bernardo Bertolucci (<em>Bertolucci e la religione del ciemna<\/em>, dir. Mario Sesti) and Franco Zeffirelli (<em>Franco Zeffirelli \u2013 Directing from Life<\/em>, dir. Chris Hunt).<\/p>\n<p>Apart from short animations, the audience of the 26th Etiuda&amp;Anima will also have a unique opprtunity to see feature animated films of the last season which have been presented at the most important film festivals abroad. The festival will be opened by <em>Bu\u00f1uel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles <\/em>(dir. Salvador Simo Busom), awarded at, among others, the Malaga Film Festival. \u00a0In the following days there will be screenings of <em>The Swallows of Kabul<\/em> (dir. Zabou Breitman and El\u00e9a Gob\u00e9 M\u00e9vellec) presented at Cannes, a detective film <em>Ruben Brandt, Collector <\/em>(dir. Milorad Krsti\u0107), as well as presentations of animations for younger viewers including, among others, Danish <em>Checkered Ninja <\/em>(dir.\u00a0 Anders Matthesen and Thorbj\u00f8rn Christoffersen).<\/p>\n<p>The festival program also includes workshops: of animation for children led by a laureate of Etiuda&amp;Anima 2018, Lucija Mrzljak, and of smartphone filmmaking, which will be organized in collaboration with AMA Film Academy. \u00a0Papaya Young Directors\u00a0 will persuade us that \u201dA commercial can be an etude \u2013 about non-standard way of story telling\u201d, while Konrad Sierzputowski will hold a lecture titled \u201dWatch and buy me! Animated film series and toy industry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Among other accompanying events, it is also worth mentioninig a meeting with Leszek Dawid, who will tell us about his work on the latest film <em>Broad Peak<\/em>, a trade conference of the rectors of European film and artistic schools titled \u201dPromotion and distribution of student etudes and graduation films outside film schools and community\u201d, as well as promotion of the second volume of a publication <em>Propaganda, Ideology, Animation<\/em>. <em>Twisted Dreams of History <\/em>, edited by Olga and Micha\u0142 Bobrowscy and the Etiuda&amp;Anima artistic director Bogus\u0142aw Zmudzi\u0144ski.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n26<sup>th<\/sup> International Film Festival Etiuda&amp;Anima 2019<br \/>\nul.
