We will see among others <em>Lay Bare<\/em> by Paul Bush, <em>Centerfold<\/em> by Ellie Lang, <em>Still Born<\/em> by Asa Sandzen, <em>Marcel, the King of Tervuren<\/em> by Tom Schroeder.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">Animated documentaries have been around for almost a century. The first film defined as one was Winsor McCay\u2019s <em>The Sinking of the Lusitania <\/em>(1918), but <em>Persepolis <\/em>and <em>Waltz with Bashir <\/em>in the late-2000s marked a notable revival, inspiring many animated documentary films in the subsequent years. We have seen the documentary genre\u2019s borders expand with animation, \u00a0contributing new visual tools of expression with the endless storytelling possibilities the medium has to offer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12045\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Marcel-krol1.jpg\" alt=\"marcel-krol1\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: center;\">Photo from the film \"Marcel, the King of Tervuren\"<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">Looking at what has been done and what is currently being made within this field, it seems hard to define what makes a film an animated doc. Some use real soundtrack, some involve real footage imagery, and some fabricate every aspect of the production. The one element that connects them all is the \u201cseed of truth\u201d \u2013 the feeling that something within the story is real.
