It is the second time that IFF Etiuda&Anima, apart from traditional competitions of student etudes and independent animated films, also organizes a review of graduate films made at Polish art schools in 2012. Similar to last year, the presentation will not be a competition; however, we do not rule out that the programme of the festival will evolve in this direction, and that we will hold a competition of Polish graduate films in the near or distant future.

The Seven Deadly Sins is about life here and now, about whether we can be happy without lying to ourselves. Many people follow their rules every day, thinking that whatever they do, they do it right. The film makes us stop and wonder whether we live in harmony with ourselves and whether we can be truly happy without lies.

Z ŻYCIA STRACHÓW POLNYCH/FROM THE LIFE OF SCARECROWS, reż./dir. Grzegorz Dębowski, szkoła filmowa/film school: PWSFTviT, dyplom licencjacki reżyserski/Bachelor of Fine Arts with major in film directing, Polska/Poland, 2012,16’, fab./fiction

“Long, long time ago… In a far-away land named “Poland”, there lived Grażyna, a woman who didn’t want to grow up. The film was inspired by a true story and fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.

You want to finally prove yourself and create something special, something you can be proud of. First, build a concrete wall, separating you from the rest of the world. It will help you keep balance and calm when people closest to you, out of sheer concern, will harm you with their words. Words showing lack of understanding… Not for Children is about problems encountered also by makers of animated films during development of their projects.

JESTEM OK / I AM OK, reż./dir. Tushar Prakash, szkoła filmowa/film school: PWSFTviT, dyplom licencjacki reżyserski/Bachelor of Fine Arts with major in film directing, Polska/Poland, 2012,20’, fab./fiction

Four names – each denotes different type of femininity. A depressed piano teacher fights a monster inside him. And when he thinks he reaches the bottom, a ray of hope appears. I Am OK is a subjective journey into the deepest regions of the mind of a man fighting his sexuality.
